apply by November 27, 2026

Location: Vancouver, BC – Downtown Vancouver (In-Office)

Company: Raincity Rents Family of Companies

Employment Type: Full-Time, 1 Year Contract (with opportunity to extend based on performance and company needs)

Reporting To: Tech & Innovation Lead

Compensation: $62,000 – $72,000/year (commensurate with experience) + extended health and benefits

Our "Why"

We aren’t your typical corporate real estate company.

At the Raincity Rents Family of Companies, we own and operate rental housing and workspaces across Metro Vancouver. We believe in building community, treating our tenants like neighbours, and running a business that makes our city a genuine, vibrant place to live and work.

Behind the heritage brick, apartment buildings, and day-to-day tenant requests is an active, growing technology environment that keeps the whole engine running.

We’re on the hunt for someone who gets genuinely excited about technology, practical AI, and finding a better way to do things to help us build out that environment.

The Mission

Our goal is straightforward: use technology to make our business more secure, organized, efficient, and scalable.

Reporting directly to the Tech & Innovation Lead, you will be the friendly, go-to technical partner for our whole crew. Your number-one priority is backing up our frontline staff—our property managers, leasing coordinators, building managers, and office team. You'll take the time to actually understand their everyday bottlenecks, patiently bail them out when tech misbehaves, and turn daily headaches into smooth, lasting solutions.

A Day in the Life : The Real Deal

Let’s be completely transparent about what this job actually looks like on the ground:

  • 8:00 AM — The Morning Curveball: You walk in with your coffee, and your phone rings. A building manager at one of our residential buildings can’t get the lease agreement to print, the 3CX phone app is claiming it's offline, or someone locked themselves out of the office access door. You don’t roll your eyes or treat them like a nuisance ticket number. You jump in with patience, troubleshoot the jam or kick the network port, get them unstuck, and save their morning. Then, on your walk back to your desk, your brain kicks into gear: Wait, why did that fail? Is the PoE switch port acting up? Could we set up an OCR scanner or a digital signature flow so they never have to print this 40-page packet again? That’s the mindset we love.
  • 10:30 AM — Spotting the "Excel Gymnastics": While helping a teammate configure their new laptop, you look over their shoulder and notice them doing wild computer acrobatics: manually copying numbers from 15 different PDF invoices into a giant spreadsheet, or clicking through five sub-menus just to re-save a document. Instead of judging, you smile and say, “Hey, mind if I show you a 5-second shortcut?” You show them an easier way, write a quick 10-line Python or Google Apps Script later that afternoon to do it automatically, and instantly become their favorite person in the building.
  • 2:15 PM — Getting Your Hands Dirty: After lunch, you might be terminating an ethernet cable to an access reader, setting up a new staff member in Google Workspace and 1Password, or tackling a dusty archive box of legacy paperwork to get it scanned, indexed, and search-ready in the cloud.
  • 3:30 PM — Building the Future: Once the immediate fires are out, you sit down with the Tech & Innovation Lead to work on real, impactful tech projects: wiring up an API to connect our internal databases, tinkering with an internal AI assistant to summarize tenant inquiries, or improving our company intranet.

Where You’ll Spend Your Time

50% — Keeping the Lights On: Frontline Support & Tech Reliability

  • Frontline Lifesaver: Be the patient, welcoming first point of contact when laptops, screens, software, or account logins act up.
  • Network & Hardware Fundamentals: Keep local office connections healthy—troubleshooting routers, switches, patch cables, and PoE devices (access points, IP cameras, desk phones).
  • Physical Access & Facility Security: Administer our Door Access Control System (UniFi Access or similar)—issuing keycards/fobs, troubleshooting readers, and updating access schedules across our properties.
  • Ditching the Paper Trail: Help drag old-school workflows into the 21st century by fixing finicky office printers/scanners, converting physical paper archives to the cloud, and setting up smart OCR (Optical Character Recognition) scanning.
  • Identity & Cloud Guardianship: Provision new hires, cleanly offboard departing staff, and audit security permissions across Google Workspace and 1Password.
  • Phones & Gear Inventory: Manage extensions and queues on our 3CX VoIP system and keep a clean, accurate inventory of laptops, monitors, software seats, and hardware.

25% — Building Smarter Ways: Systems, Automation & AI

  • Banish Repetitive Tasks: Write lightweight, practical scripts (Google Apps Script, Python, Shell) to automate tedious data transfers and connect our apps via APIs.
  • Intranet & Web Presence: Maintain and polish our internal staff intranet, knowledge wikis, and staff web tools.
  • Cloud & Deployments: Help deploy and manage lightweight internal tools on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Ditching Fragile Sheets: Help migrate brittle, messy Excel spreadsheets into structured cloud tools and clean, automated dashboards.
  • Practical AI: Test and roll out pragmatic AI tools that cut down administrative busywork for the frontline team.

25% — Human Enablement: Friendly Coaching & Clear Guides

  • Zero-Jargon Coaching: Patiently walk team members through new tools without making anyone feel silly for asking basic questions.
  • Workflow Upgrades: Proactively spot when staff are stuck doing things the hard, traditional way, and guide them toward easier digital habits.
  • Playbook Writing (SOPs): Write refreshingly clear, bite-sized how-to guides, visual checklists, and quick-start docs for our tools and hardware.
  • Security Culture: Gently advocate for strong password hygiene, smart file naming, and proactive cybersecurity habits across every department.

Who You Are

We’re not screening for a 15-page corporate resume. We’re looking for someone who brings this exact energy:

  • Tech-Minded & Naturally Curious: You understand how computers, networks, and software tick, and you genuinely enjoy geeking out over how things work under the hood.
  • Deeply Empathetic & Patient: You understand that not everyone loves technology as much as you do. You listen first, drop the technical jargon, and get genuine satisfaction from making someone’s workday easier.
  • The "There Has to Be a Better Way" Mentality: You get an itch when you see repetitive, manual, inefficient work—and your immediate instinct is to find a tool, script, or system that solves it permanently.
  • Observant & Proactive: You don’t sit in a corner waiting for support tickets to pile up. You notice when someone is struggling with a clunky process and naturally step up to help.
  • Organized & Thorough: You like clean folders, well-labeled patch panels, tidy password vaults, and documentation that doesn't leave people guessing.
  • Hands-On & Grounded: You’re equally happy prototyping an automation script in AppScript/Python or getting down under a desk to trace an ethernet cable and clear a paper jam.

Nice-to-Haves

If you have some of these, tell us! If you don't, we’ll happily help you learn them:

  • Basic Networking Smarts: Understanding DHCP, DNS, IP ranges, and hands-on comfort troubleshooting routers, managed switches, and PoE hardware.
  • Access Control Systems: Experience configuring keycard readers, electronic strikes, or door controllers (especially Ubiquiti UniFi Access).
  • Hardware & Digitization: Real-world experience fixing printers/scanners and using OCR document software.
  • Cloud & Voice: Hands-on time with Google Workspace Admin, 1Password, or 3CX telephony.
  • Scripting & APIs: Experience tinkering with Python, Google Apps Script, Shell/Bash, or automation tools like Make/Zapier.
  • Google Cloud: Familiarity with deploying lightweight apps or functions on GCP.
  • Property Management Tech: Any exposure to real estate software platforms like Yardi or Entrata.
  • Everyday AI: Active experience using modern AI tools to speed up your own work and research.
  • Bondable, clean criminal record
  • BC Driver’s License

What You'll Learn & Gain

Working closely with the Tech & Innovation Lead, you’ll get real responsibility and direct mentorship. You’ll develop hands-on expertise in:

  • Corporate cloud administration and security hardening across Google Workspace and 1Password.
  • Real-world network deployment, PoE hardware, and physical access control architecture..
  • Building custom business automations, OCR pipelines, and Google Cloud services.
  • How a thriving local real estate and property business operates from the inside out.

You won't be stuck churning repetitive tickets in a basement. You'll learn how to take real business problems end-to-end:

Problem → Research → Idea → Build → Test → Improve → Implement

Why Join Us?

If you want a sterile corporate IT job where your only task is resetting forgotten passwords in Active Directory, this isn't for you.

Here, you will touch every single part of our technology ecosystem:

  • One hour, you're the hero who fixed a broken printer and set up an access fob so a move-in could
  • happen smoothly.
  • The next hour, you’re writing an automation script or testing an AI workflow that saves our leasing team 10 hours a week.

The rhythm is simple: Solve the immediate problem with care, then figure out how to make it better for tomorrow.

If that sounds like the kind of challenge you’ve been looking for, we’d love to meet you.
